By the time Boss and I finish our conversation, I'm so on edge it feels like I'm about to burst out of my skin. I'm fucked in the worst sense. I bet my money on the wrong horse, and now I'm going to have to deal with the outcome of the Faceless coming after me. It could all still be a lie, but I can't see how everyone I met acts like a good person. I may suck at judging a person's character, but I wasn't that bad at it.

Boss left me in the conference room once we finished our conversation. I guess to talk to Archer and the boys here, but I couldn't bring myself to get over the bombs he dropped on me. Two hours later, I was still sitting on the ground where he left me, trying to wrap my head around everything. As time passed, I couldn't find a way out of my mess. I decided I just needed to get out.

Jumping to my feet, I bolt from the conference room, grateful no one was in the main area. I burst out the back doors and into the open field behind the clubhouse. There isn't much space for me to go anywhere. There are a couple of trailers where I assume the families live and a small shed to one side. Beyond that is nothing but trees and brush. I don't want to go out there and get caught in the marshlands. I'm not equipped to fight any crocodiles right now.

I take a deep breath letting the heavy thick Louisiana air seep into my lungs. I'd almost forgotten what home smelt like. Almost. Feeling a little better now I’m out of the enclosed space, I drop my hands to my waist and let my head fall back. I will find a way to get through this, but I will need some help. The problem is, who will help me when they find out I was sent to betray them? Gator already can't trust me. Boss already admitted he is nowhere near his strongest, and the Faceless are everywhere.

"There has to be a way," I mutter to myself.

"The way is back in the clubhouse." Gator snaps from behind me.

I twirl in place and look at him. I didn't even realize he'd come outside. "What?"

"You said there has to be a way. I told you which way you need to go. You're not supposed to be out here. Why the hell didn't you go with your father in the first place?" He squints his eyes and scans my body slowly. Not sexually but cautiously.

"We both thought it best we give each other some space after our conversation," I reply and walk closer to him. He's standing on the porch but doesn't move when I reach the edge. I don't want to fight with him. I don't have the energy to do it. Instead, I sit down, letting my legs dangle off the sides.

"Yeah ... well." He shrugs and looks away.
